Ford Repair: Seatbelt Help!, loose change, retraction

Question
Erik,

Hi!  I am in charge of a fleet of vans (mostly E350s) and have a recurring problem with seatbelts locking up (Once buckled, they will not un-buckle and the person has to "squirm" out).  The issue seems to lie in the lock/button mechanism where the two pieces meet, not in the roller/retraction system.

Any ideas for 1) Fixing it, 2) Replacing it and/or 3) Preventing this from happening?

The Vans are Ford E350s, 99's and 2000's.

Thanks!

Derek

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Since this is a serious safety issue, I would suggest going back to the dealership for it. They might be able to replace them for free...............you have to ask.
The only way I know of "fixing" them is to replace them. As far as prevention goes........make sure NOTHING...like loose change gets stuck in them to foul up the internal latch.
Hope this helps,
Erik
