Ford Repair: ford probe stalling, air intake hose, air leaks

Question
Hi, I have a 93 Ford Probe 2.5 V6 auto 143,000 miles. The car is well maintained. It stalled on me the other day when I was driving, then it would not start up. I got it towed home and the next morning it started right up. Stalled yesterday on me again this time I was at idle. After about 20 minutes it started up again. I replaced the distributor a couple of months ago because it was not getting spark because I know this was a common problem with these cars. It's been great till now. I have a quarter of a tank of gas. Do you think it could be the fuel pump or maybe my new distributor went bad? I checked for codes and it gave me a #16 an EGR code. Car does it so intermittently that everytime I go to check for spark or fuel it starts right up. I wish it would stay broke down so I can find the problem. Thank You.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Before you go replacing another distributor, check the big air intake hose that runs from the air filter housing to the throttle body. That is usually where air leaks in and kills the engine----because it is unmetered air---bypassing the MAF sensor.
Hope this helps,
Erik
