Ford Repair: Ford Escort buzzer, cylinder lock, 1994 ford escort

I have a 1994 Ford Escort, 4-door, AC/Auto Trans.  The warning buzzer sounds everytime I open the door.  The lights are off and the key is out of the ignition.  I have been having some problems with the key sticking in the switch and having to struggle to get it out.  Any ideas whether it is more likely to be a short or a problem with the ignition switch?

It sounds like the ignition cylinder lock is at fault and needs to be replaced.
