Ford Repair: remove ranger bed or drop gas tank?, gas gauge, gas tank

My gas gauge has pegged out, I figure it's the sending unit mounted on the gas tank.  Now the choice comes, remove the bed or drop the tank?  which would you do for quickest fix.  This is from a 95 Mazda 2300 (same as a Ford Ranger)

  Dropping the tank would by far be the easiest choice.  I don't know you're level of experience with such things, but it shouldn't take you any longer than 4 hours or so.  If you really know what you're doing you could easily cut that time in half.  Really the hardest part is syphoning the gas out before dropping it.  Hope this helps.
