Ford Repair: Brakes and Suspension!, ford explorer sport, oem pads

Question
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport and haven't had any major problems except I have to replace my ball joints soon.

My first question is: I took my car wash and pressure washed it myself. The next day the right front of my car began to make a noise everytime I went over bumps or anything that would cause my car to rock (even when I am pulling into a parking lot etc).It doesn't sound like a mechanical noise (clicking, scratching etc) it's a sound that occurs everytime the car bounces. Is this anything to do with suspension or shocks?

Secondly, about a month ago my brakes began to squek really loud. They don't do it first thing in the morning, but when I eventually arrive at my destination they have managed to drive me crazy. I got them checked out and they said it was because they were metallic brakes. Will this eventually stop or do I have to get them replaced, and if so, what type of brakes should I get in order to ensure it won't happen again.

If you can only answer one question, please answer the first. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Stephanie,
The upper control arms squeek sometimes. They have the upper ball joints in them. The rubber bushings make noise, but usually there is no problem unless the rubber starts seperating. Then the noise turns into a knock when braking. You could try spraying some WD-40 (or other lubricant) on the upper or any rubber bushing that you washed.
Your brakes probably need to be replaced. Have the rotors machined and replace the pads with FORD OEM pads for best results.
