Ford Repair: Emissions, ford f 150, exhaust gases

Question
Would a bad EGR VALVE cause your engine to lack power? I have a 1984 Ford F-150, inline 6 cyl. 4.9 liter engine. Thank you

  Yes, a clogged or malfunctioning EGR valve will cause poor performance.  The EGR system is there to recirculate exhaust gases into the engine where they're burned to reduce pollutants.  If the system becomes blocked or clogged then too much of the gas will back up into the engine's intake and you won't be burning as much oxygen as you should, causing poor performance.  Hope this helps.
