Honda Repair: 95 Honda Heater Core?, question index, heater core

Question
A lady friend called last night and said the windows on the Accord were fogging up. She did not smell any antifreeze. any Ideas? What is the skill factor to change the heater core on said 95 Honda Accord. Any DIY links? Down and Out in WI.

Answer
actually if the windows are fogging up in the cold it is becuase the air conditioning is either not working properly or just simply isnt turned On. check the dash to see if the AC button is lit. this will clear off the fog on the windows pretty quick. if it is on and still wont go away you may be low on freon. you would need to add R134.

if you really do think it is the heater core, it should be periodically and randomly shutting off when the heat is on full blast. here is a link with some other suggestions:

if you are going to replace it yourself, be prepared to have an aching back and be working on it for more than 4 hours. my suggestion is to purchase a haynes repair manual on how to properly remove and a install a new heater core before trying to just guess your way through it.
