Honda Repair: 1996 Honda Civic EX - SRS light, backyard mechanic, honda civic ex

Question
My SRS warning light came on about a week ago.  I took the car into Honda and the tech retrieved codes 07-2 and 07-3.  Said the SRS control unit is not operating properly.

(1) What do these codes indicate?

(2) Before I spend the $700+ to have this replaced at the dealership, is this something a reasonable backyard mechanic can undertake?

Thanks!

Answer
Like they said, internal srs control unit failure.  This code can also be set by a bad battery.  Have you had any battery problems recently?  If you haven't you will need to replace the srs control unit.  That system is very particular and I would never recommend anyone working on it unless you know what you are doing.  If you do something wrong and blow the air bags, that $700 will cost you $2500.
