Honda Repair: honda accord 2.0i se, honda service, electrical portion

Question
Hi i have a 2000 Honda Accord with 90k it has full honda service history and drives well but lately when driving the engine will be running smoothly then with no warning just cut out it will then turn over but not start and after few minutes start up and run fine again, any ideas? this normally happens when running approx 30  mph

Answer
Simon, there's a few ideas I'm thinking. Those model years had problems with the electrical portion of the ignition switch where the vehicle would cut out for no reason. In that instance there would be NO warning lights(i.e. oil light batt. light etc.) Call a dealer and get them to run your VIN for any open recalls. Another possible cause could be the ignition coil geting hot and cutting out. When it dies you would have to check whether fuel or spark is missing. Let me know if you need to know how to check for that. RICK
