Honda Repair: 98 civic dx transmission, crackling noise, trans shop

i have a manual 5 spd. 98 honda civic dx. the problem is that it makes a crackling noise when driving. there's no loss of power but it makes a lot of noise. i was told it was the transmission and it had to be replaced. also just recently i was hit from behind by a truck and two days after that a yellow light came on that said check engine. does that light have to do with the transmission also? and do i have to replace my transmission or can it be fixed? or is it even my transmission that is having problems? i appreciate your help , salvador

The transmission problem is a bearing needs to be rebuilt or replaced. the check engine light could be on becase of trans problem . Is the speedo working if not that is why the light is on. Ypu need to let a trans shop drive it to test the trans. Good luck
