Honda Repair: SRS control unit, honda accord lx, 1995 honda accord lx

Dear Mr. Gene:
I have a 1995 honda accord LX 4-dr sedan. The SRS light came on recently, I took it to a honda dealer and they told me that they detected a 9-2 code, and need to replace the control unit. Wondering if you have any idea what alternative way I can have to get the light off?

Unfortunately there is no other way to shut that light off short of removing the gauge assy. and pulling the bulb. That would be against the law and I do not recommend it!
The control unit is the main brain of the SRS system and I have seen quite a few of those go bad.
Did they inform  you that your airbags may not go off in the event of an accident? They should have.
Although expensive, that part might just save your life someday. If you can some how come up with the money, I would suggest replacing it.
