Hyundai Repair: Speed Sensor, vehicle speed sensor, 2003 hyundai elantra

My 2003 Hyundai Elantra is showing a P0501 fault. In a book of mine ,it says it's the vehicle speed sensor. Is that the same thing as the input speed sensor on top of the transmission? Thank's  DeWayne

No, P0501 refers to the vehicle speed input received by the ECM.  This input originates at the right front wheel speed sensor.  The number one cause of this code is a broken wire near for the speed sensor, so I'd recommend removing the right front wheel and fender liner (if necessary) to inspect the wiring.
