Answer
Hi, Brenda.  This could be related to either engine or transmission performance.  I'm going to list some questions below.  Try to answer the best you are able.  The answers will help me determine what type of problem you may have.  Part of my difficulty is that I don't understand what you mean by "hesitates."  If the questions below don't help you explain it well, feel free to add whatever you think is necessary.  Anything you see/hear/feel could be pertinent.

1.  Is your check engine lamp on or has it come on?
2.  Is there a lack of power during the shift?
3.  Does the shift seem to happen at its normal time?  Later?  Sooner?
4.  Does the shift itself seem to take longer than normal?
5.  Does engine rpm raise during the shift and then come back down to normal?
6.  Does engine rpm raise during the shift and then stay abnormally high?
7.  Is the shift harsh?
