Hyundai Repair: Check Engine and ESC off lights are on, throttle position sensor, hyundai sonata

Question
I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata GLS. It has 1880miles on it. I JUST got in it, TRIED to start it, and it had a problem turning over. When it finally did, it jerked really hard when I shifted into reverse. Then it had a problem accelerating. Chech Engine and ESC OFF LIGHT are on. What is wrong? Its a BRAND new car! I mean we read the owners manual when we got it. Did NOT accelerate it to where the RPMs were past 4000. Stopped pumping gas when the pump stopped it self, DIDNT top it off to the next even/odd number. I mean it is BRAND NEW! What is going on?

Answer
The engine control module (ECM) has recognize a critical problem which could affect the proper operation of the throttle, so it has limited the the throttle angle and/or the amount of fuel which can be delivered.  In addition, the ESC control module is no longer receiving information regarding engine torque from the ECM because the ECM cannot accurately calculate this value while the problem is occurring.  The most common problems causing these symptoms are with the throttle position sensor or the accelerator pedal positoin sensor.  This problem has not been caused by anything you've done-- it's a malfunction in the vehicle.

If the car drives normally after turning off and restarting, drive it immediately to the dealer for service.  If you're not comfortable with that or the problem continues after turning off and restarting, have it towed to the dealer.

Unfortunately, sometimes new cars have problems, too.
