Hyundai Repair: steer rack end problem, tie rod ends, thread pitch

Question
I brought a steering rack end 4 a 98 manual 2 door hatch 1.5 with no power steering but the thread was different on the ball joint end to the one i took off . Is this a after market problem or have i just been sold the wrong rack end.

Answer
Inner and outer tie rod ends are serviced separately, so in order for them to be useful, they'll always need to have the same thread pitch as the original.  While I don't know for sure because I cannot inspect your tie rod end nor your rack, it's likely you've been sold the incorrect part.
