Hyundai Repair: 1998 Hyundai Accent Transmission, hyundai accent, clunk

Question
I drive a 1998 Hyundai Accent. I have a very similar problem to the gentleman who feels like his vehicle is taking off in third gear with some exceptions. First mine is intermittent (20% of the time it takes off with power). Second I have an occasional light clunk or thump when I first step back on the accelerator from a deceleration that didn't result in a full stop. Third I never get a high engine noise. My RPMs seem stuck under 2000 and sometimes the RPMs actually drop down to what feels like a stall when I'm leaving the driveway for the first time of the day. In neutral RPMs are strong. Reverse and Low gear are never affected.

Answer
Hello Richard,
When one or more clutch inside the transmission wear out, some gears may slip or clunk. Before thinking about internal failure, there ara some inspections you can do. First of all, do you have check engine light? If you do what is the code/s. How is the fluid?Level and condition? Do you have stalling during idleing at D?
