Hyundai Repair: Hyundai 2006 Santa Fe horn, hyundai dealer, body control module bcm

Question
Hi,
I just bought a 2006 Santa Fe - 4 cylinder. The horn does not work. I took it to the Hyundai dealer twice and they don't know why. Can you provide some answers? It was bought in Canada ( I understand made in USA).
Thanks,
Earl

Answer
If the horn is not working, it should be a simple matter of tracing the circuit to figure out why.  Most frequently, the problem is the horn itself.

If your model is equivalent to the U.S. 2006 model, then it's a rather simple circuit.  There's a contact in the steering wheel that grounds the horn relay.  The horn relay then applies power to the horn, causing the horn to beep.

If your vehicle is equivalent to the U.S. 2007 model, then the circuit is similar, except that steering wheel contact sends a signal to the body control module (BCM), which should, in turn, activate the horn.
