Hyundai Repair: 1999 HYUNDIA ELANTRA, KEEPS BLOWING EUC FUSE, hyundia elantra, 30 amp fuse

Question
SO HERE WE GO, I BOUGHT A HYUNDAI ELANTRA ITS A 1999.  IT SEEMS WHEN EVER i go past 50 mph i blow the ecu fuse.  its a 30 amp fuse.  then i would change the fuse and try to get the car going again, then once i hit 50mph it just dies out again.  i thought there might have been something wrong with the trans, because it kinda felt like it was shifting alittle funny sometimes, or smetimes the car felt like it wasn't shifting at all like the car was running on on gear.  I just bought this car and it ran great the first month i owned it but thats not the case anymore.  what should i do.  oh yeah the check engine light comes on once it dies to.

Answer
Check to see whether the wiring for the rear oxygen sensor is rubbing on the axle.  I've seen this issue occur because the wiring rubs through there, making a short circuit and causing the ECU fuse (should be 20A -- blue) to blow.

The wiring for the sensor should be clipped onto the bracket that bolts onto the block and intake manifold.  In some cases, the clip breaks, causing the wiring to fall and contact the axle.

If your wiring is indeed damaged, repair the wiring or replace the sensor as appropriate, and be sure to tie the wiring up to prevent it from rubbing the axle.
