Hyundai Repair: 99 Tiburon No Power To The wheels, coolant levels, shift linkage

Question
I have a Tib FX.  A few days ago it just lost all power.  Starts fine, idles fine.  You put it in gear and reverse out of the driveway, fine.  Then you put it in first and you have no power.  The tach goes up, the engine isn't hitching or any other problems but in third gear with the pedal almost to the floor you can only manage about 30 mph.

The plugs and wires are brand new. The oil and coolant levels are correct and I am not getting any kind of "Check Engine" light.

Please help, my wife and I are really short on money and I need to figure out what is wrong.

Many Thanks,

Sean

Answer
You have some sort of transmission or clutch problem.

If you have an automatic transmission, you probably need to replace the transmission, but there's a remote possibility that the shift cable or range switch is out of adjustment or defective.

If you have a manual transmission, it's possible you have a problem with the shift linkage, an internal transmission problem, or a clutch wear issue.
