Hyundai Repair: Windshield Wipers, weather approaches, passenger arm

Question
Hello,

I have a question in regards to my passenger side wiper. I own a 2003 Elantra and for some reason, only the drivers side wiper works at this time. What would cause the other not to work and how can I fix it? I assume its something to do with the linkage, but what can I do? Thanks a lot

Answer
Most frequently, when one of the wipers stops moving, the nut at the base of the wiper arm has come loose.  If it's loose, simply turn off the wipers so that the driver's wiper is in the park position.  Then tighten the nut at the base of the passenger arm.  It'll be either a 12mm or a 14mm nut.

As colder weather approaches, try not to turn on your wipers when the windshield is iced or covered with a significant amount of snow.  This provides a significant amount of resistance and tends to cause the nuts to come loose.
