Hyundai Repair: Heating and Ventilation Lever Type, air flow control, hyundai accent

I have a 1999 Hyundai Accent.  The Lever for the air flow control does not change from face-level to floor and defrost-level or to defrost-level.  How can I access the lever to see if the cable is loose?

Answer
First check the cable attachments to the heater box under the dash.  If they're off or out of the retainer clips, the controls won't work properly.  

If the cables are attached properly, you'll need to check the back of the heater control assembly.  To remove, you'll need to take the three cables off the heater assembly.  Two are the ones you looked at above, and one is behind the glove box.  Then remove the two screws behind the ashtray and pull out the center dash panel.  The heater control assembly is attached to the center panel.
