Hyundai Repair: Check engine light, hyundai sonata, gas cap

Question
I have a Hyundai Sonata 2001 V6, automatic and it has 60,500 miles on it. I just purchased it from the dealership and now the check engine light is on. Could this mean a simple solution like changing the oil because it will need one at 61,500 miles or could it be something else. I am afraid to drive it and dont really have the money to take it to the dealership so they can say its nothing and reset it. Could you help me out.

Answer
The light could mean any number of things from a loose gas cap to a major problem. The only way to tell is to have it scanned for codes. Many parts stores do that. Once I have the code then I might be able to help.
Sorry I cant be of more help, let me know what happens.
