Isuzu Repair: A/C problem, freon r134, isuzu rodeo

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo V6 with 109000 miles.  I have owned the vehicle for 2 years and the air conditioner has been horrible the whole time.  It will make a slight clicking noise when i turn the air conditioner on and will only blow cool air(not cold) when going over fifty miles/hr for a long distance.  Today i got it drained(it only had .53lbs of freon),vacuumed and filled to 1.43lbs. It still does not blow cool unless driving over 50mph for a long distance. The "experts" said to bring it back tomorrow to try to unclog the lines... What should I do?

ANSWER: Well the best thing you could have done is get it pressure checked. Get a new receiver drier/ new freon/r134-a. and pag oil(I think it is a type pag oil 46) Also have it flushed and checked for ANY pieces of metal or any type of debris. Also your condensor needs  to be checked and flushed as well as the evaporator. The clicking is most likely due to a failing clutch on the compressor and the compressor runs around 250.00 with shipping on ebay. Just make sure to get the right type of compressor that has the same connections as your old compressor does. It could be it just needs freon or something much worse(I hope not). Although the best thing to have done is stated above David.

QUESTION: i think he wants to check for pieces of metal and other debris in the lines... should the condensor and evaporator have been checked when the system was flushed, vacuumed out and filled back to the correct ammount of freon?

Answer
Yes the entire system should be pressure tested, flushed, and cleaned including a new receiver drier(ALWAYS REPLACE RECEIVER/ DRIER no matter what when doing a flush and cleaning process!!) The condensor and evaporator are very very important and if your condensor and or evaporator have bent cooling fins or are clogged, they need to be replaced. If the compressor has failed, the condensor evaporator need to be replaced at the same time or the compressor will not be under any kind of warranty period. This process of just cleaning and pressure testing plus re-charging of the system runs about 150.00 total. Although if many other problems persist, the price raises significantly.
