is it at all possible to remove the entire front diff without dissasembling it first to be able to then remove the sump or not?

Hello Paul, well, yes it is, but it would take a great deal of time to remove all of the necesarry things to get to it. Some troopers have the pump on the front of the engine, and some in the oil pan, so either way you need to give yourself a couple of days to accomplish this. I would recommend help from a friend or a manual. Although it is very possible to do, I am guessing it is four-wheel drive?
