Jaguar Repair: 1984 jag evaporator-ac, corvette engine, new corvette

Question
Sammie- I have been told that my evaporator has a leak in it and needs to be replaced. It supposedly was damaged when a new corvette engine was put in. How can it be tested to see if indeed the evaporator needs to be replaced? If so, does the whole dash need to be removed. If so can you give me a sequence in which to do it.
Thanks, Roy

Answer
I am sorry but your question can not simply be answered. However I will attempt to help you.
I have a new evaporator in my storeroom. It may not be your evaporator at all. First have someone check your expansion valve, fuel cooler, hoses and evaporator for leaks. The reason I have a new evaporator in my storeroom is that I will not attempt to replace it, and there was nothing wrong with it. Leave somethings to the professionals. Please buy a manual if you do not already have one. It will give details on the removal and replacement of most parts. Sam
