Jeep Repair: oil consumption, warranty guidelines, oil consumption

Question
i have a 2007 wrangler thats using oil 46,000 miles on it my local dealer said it was normal for it to use a quart every 1000 miles do you have anything to add  need help i've had it there 2 times for the same thing no help.

Answer
According to warranty guidelines, oil consumption of 1 quart per 1000 miles is considered normal. So in that respect, the dealership is correct, especially if you are looking to have this repaired under warranty. Keep in mind that all engines consume oil to some extent. This usage increases with mileage. You could have a new engine installed at a cost of around $3000.00, but in my opinion it would be cheaper and smarter to add a quart oil between oil changes.
