Jeep Repair: 2004 Grand Cherokee Wiring Harness, american car owners, 2004 grand cherokee

Question
Hi!  I appreciate any light you can shed on this subject.  Recently our power doors and windows stopped functioning altogether at the same time.  We assumed it was a fuse.  When we brought it in, we were told by the Jeep Dealer that the wiring harness has corroded and that it's due to normal wear and tear, by opening and closing the left front door.  As for the power locks, they could not even manually lock or unlock them and said that the unit is corroded.  All doors are affected.  We do not believe this is normal wear and tear.  The vehicle is no longer under warranty.

The window trim around all the windows started rusting quite early in our ownership and we are wondering if due to that part being faulty, this could have happened.  We are loyal American car owners and are sad at this turn of events on a relatively new vehicle.  I have older vehicles and have never had this type of problem simply because I open and close my doors as frequently as anyone else would.

They want to charge us over $500 to repair the wiring harness alone and that will not fix the door locks.  Could this be a lemon and how do I find out?

Thanks.

Answer
the wire issue is a common thing where the power or ground wire will brake in 2. As for the door locks not working manually could be the actuators are frozen and not moving. When the wires brake they affect the windows, lights inside and door locks. U can always repair it yourself by splicing the broken wires in the door jam yourself.
