Jeep Repair: Evaporator drain plugged 1999 Grand Cherokee, core lines, grand cherokee

Question
QUESTION: Your response to a similar question for a 1997 Grand Cherokee identified a fix by drilling a hole and blowing the blockage out. Is this a Jeep approved procedure? I have been to two dealers and they claim there is no approved fix and want to replace the evaporator.

ANSWER: the one in question is for a 96 - 98 jeep not a 99
the ac drain is on the pass side and a tube is sticking out of the fire wall below the heater core lines.

QUESTION: The drain for the 1999 is the same, passenger side, tube through the firewall. Is there some other difference that would make TSB 24-06-96 not work ? Is TSB 24-06-96 approved for models after 1996?
Thanks, Richard

Answer
a 1993-1998  is a ZJ jeep  a 1999-2004 is  WJ jeep different body styles  read the whole tsb it will say its for a ZJ jeep  a 93-98 not a 99.
u go ahead and drill a hole and see what will happen.
The tsb is for the ac drain because u can not get to the drain in the ZJ jeeps because it goes into the frame of the jeep and 99 does not u can see it and get to it easy.
