Jeep Repair: 97 jeep grand cherokee, jeep grand cherokee, latch assembly

I have a 97 jeep grand Cherokee. My instrument information center shows that my lift gate is open when I turn or hit a bump. I saw someone else question about the door sensors and you said they were internal attached to the latch. Is it the same for the lift gate? And do you just change the latch or do you need to change the striker too?

like I told the other guy  I think they are built into the latch  look on yours and see  if they are outside of the latch it will be a little black button looking thing on the doors or body. If they are in the latch then yes u need a whole new latch assembly.
