Jeep Repair: jeep 2002 liberty, jumper wire, jeep liberty

Question
a friend has asked me to work on her 2002 jeep liberty, the a/c is not cooling.  I connected the gauges and the low pressure was at 60+ and the high pressure was as 300; I "relieved" some pressure into a container and as I got the low side down to 40psi the clutch began to cycle. Isn't this a little high? I kept recovering (with a jumper wire on low pressure switch) and as I got to 25-30 on low pressure and 225 on high pressure it began to cool to about 49 at the vent. Otherwise it just didn't cool. I was kind of thinking that the switch went bad, started cycling too soon, owner added R134 until the clutch stayed engaged, and thus overcharged the system....    what is your outlook???????

Answer
sounds about right what u did  people have no idea how much to even add most of the time  because u dont know with out gauges or removing the freon it self how much u really have in there.
IF some was added by some one else then there was a reason for doing so like a leak some where because freon does not just go away.I live in the Atlanta area I would be glad to look at it for u.
