Land Rover Repair: Trans Issue??, land rover discovery, drive flange

Question
QUESTION: Hi

I have a shake or vibrating going on.  It feels like it comes from automatic gearbox as I can feel it under the driver side when I'm driving and besides a trans repair (due to driveshaft break) done over 2 month ago the transmission fluid and filter were changed. Also front oxygen sensors were changed recently.  The window will also not let up on driver side, this only happened along with shake not sure if they are related.  2001 Land Rover Discovery II.  Can you give me any ideas on where to start.

ANSWER: If the vibration only occurred after the original driveshaft break that would suggest to me that the repair was either incorrectly done or incomplete.  I suggest you address it right away because you may now have another driveshaft about to fail, or you may have a bent drive flange or some other part that will lead to another failure soon.  I'd run the car on the lift and look for a shake, and check everything carefully for play, out or true, or binding.

I doubt if the power window failure has anything to do with this.  That is a simple circuit of switch wires and motor.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Had car looked over so far, battery post had to be changed post were slipping and not secure.  One of the spark plugs had to be put back not sure how it was loose and barely hanging in there.  Also noticed somehow there is a break/crack in two hoses on left side of engine almost toward top seems to have a connection from air filter and MAF when I follow the connection. Shake is still there and it seems to have a problem accelerating especially if I'm going uphill

Answer
In your first question you talked about a vibration that feels to you like it comes from the transmission or driveline.   In this follow up you mention cable, plug and hose problems that seem totally unrelated.  If a professional mechanic is suggesting these issues as the cause of your vibration I'd be getting a little worried.

You really need to determine what sort of vibration you have.  Is something out of balance when it spins, so the truck shakes all the time at a given speed?  Or does it only shake (for example) when accelerating?  If it only shakes on acceleration you could have a misfire problem in the motor, but any misfire bad enough to shake should produce a flashing check engine light and you do not mention that.

When I look at your question and follow up I just feel like the corrective actions are all over the place and it makes me feel like whomever is diagnosing this truck is just making wild guesses and my best advice would be to seek out a person who is truly qualified to sort out troubles like this on Land Rovers.  I just don't feel confident based on what I read of your diag path
