Land Rover Repair: LR 98 disco, throttle position sensor, caliper pistons

Question
I notice that my disco when start driving it moves slowly and then start takes normal speed after 50mph is that normal or there is a mechanical proplem?

Answer
Hi alaa,

could be buildup on your exhaust valves.  This has been a common problem and a valve job may be needed.  Could also be transmission related and requires a tranny expert to verify.  Another possibility could be brakes - maybe one or more of your caliper pistons is not retracting and thus giving you a slow pickup.  There is also the possibility that fuel is not being fed properly - perhaps the Throttle Position Sensor is faulty (common problem).

Best to have it checked out by an experienced LR mechanic.  They can perform various diagnostic tests to isolate where the trouble could be.

Best of luck,
