Land Rover Repair: Vehicle wont start, landrover discovery, discovery series

Question
Good Day Mr E Robison

We have a Landrover Discovery Series 1 V8i manual and ran out of fuel while driving one day, we have put fuel in the tank and it will not start we have checked that there is petrol getting through and it is also there is spark on the sparkplugs, this is a fuel injection vehicle and we do not know what else to do to get it to start, this vehicle was used everyday so it did not stand, please can you help.  The manuals we got with the vehicle cover everything except the procedure to following after running out of petrol.

Answer
There is no special procedure to restart a petrol Land Rover after it runs out of fuel.  The fuel pump is electric and purges by itself.  You state that there is petrol getting through; presumably you say that because the spark plugs are wet.  If there is spark getting to the plugs, and the fuel is of good quality, the next step is probably fitment of new, clean, spark plugs
