Land Rover Repair: Range 4.6 to Range 2.5Tdi, p38 range rover, engine conversions

Question
Hello
Great website . I have a very silly question. I have a dream to buy a 1998 Range but all i can find is the "Petrol with an engine Cap 4600cc"..very depressing here in Kenya. Now is it possible to Change the engine;
1. From 4600cc to a 2500cc Disco engine..??
2. What if the 2500cc Disco engine is DIESEL,will it work..?
3. If the conversion is possible..what other things do i need to change..??
4. Lastly is it worth it..to do the conversion, in your opinion..?

Thanks in advance...keep up the great job
Alex

Answer
Hi Alex,

anything is possible if you have the time and money.  Going from a 4.6 V8 to a 2.5 will be stepping down (IMO).  Still, there are conversion kits available online and many companys exist who specialize in these conversions.

Here are some websites that can help you with this conversion project:

Best of luck with this,
