Land Rover Repair: landrover D2 TD5 - Automatic has lost power, injector nozzles, dramatic power

Question
Am in Kenya and imported a 2004 LR D2 TD5 from UK. worked fine for about 5 months but suddenly started smoking and lost power. After Injector nozzles were cleaned out, new air filter and fuel pump replaced, egr modified to allow free flow of air, there is still no change. It just will not move as it used to before, especially on a hill. No fault comes up in the diagnostic test. I am very depressed as no one seems to know how to fix the car. Given by their advice I will probably end up spending more than the car is worth.....Please help........

Answer
Given what you have checked, my next suggestions would be to make sure the intake is pressure-tight, and not losing boost pressure through a split in a hose or intercooler.  I also suggest you check to see the exhaust is not obstructed or blocked.  Both those situations will cause dramatic power loss with no codes.

Best of luck with the Rover
