Land Rover Repair: disco 2 traction control, locking differential, road tyres

Question
I recently drove through a field that ive driven through before and this time got stuck, all that happened after that was the front offside wheel spun regardless of high or low range,i know i am on road tyres but ive never had a problem before i ended up pulling it out with with a 69 2a,
ive since jacked up all corners seperatly and the front ofside just spins while all the others lock up any ideas would be appreciated.

cheers
Gareth

Answer
Does your Disco II have 4-wheel traction control?  Later model DIIs in the USA do, but in other parts of the world, they don't.

If you don't have traction control the result you observed can happen.

You may want to get a locking differential linkage for your truck, like the linkage on the DI.  That will allow you to lock the center differential. Such a lock might have kept you from getting stuck.
