Land Rover Repair: dead engine, landrover freelander, warranty contracts

2002 landrover freelander"S" 56,000 miles... I cannot aford the bill of 5000 dollars to replace this engine the car is in perfect shape ,the aftermarket warranty claims they will not pay because the oil caused the dammage and i will have to pursue them... watch out for scam warranty contracts... Well my question is do you know anyone that buys these for parts or repair ??? I live in bay city ,MI USA and would like to find a buyer so i will have a downpayment for a car thank you jeff foster

sorry to read about your Freelander engine. 56K ... what a shame.

Don't throw in the towel yet (or a brick at the dealer)...perhaps you can purchase a salvaged engine close to home.

Go to www.car-part.com and do a search on your 2.5l engine.

I found 6 in the US, one of which had 41K miles for about $2700 ... might be worth your while.

As for aftermarket warranties...I know exactly what you mean.  I once purchased a WYNN aftermarket warranty.  When I tried to make a claim, they found reasons to refuse the work that was needed. Never again.  You have to learn at least once not to get burned twice.

As for parting out your Freelander...I'd do it via eBAY and see what happens.  You could try salvage yards but these guys are tough and 'tight'.  You may not get much for your Freelander.
