Land Rover Repair: 99 Discovery 2: Little things, land rover dealer, dealer referral

Question
Hi John, I drive  a 99 Discovery II that just ticked past 100,000
miles! The car is mechanically sound, with the occasional rattle
or squeak. There are a few little things that I have not taken care
of since I bought the truck.

The passenger seat track and motor for the power seat just got
replaced and work for a month, but now there is a response to
the switch in the motor, but no movement in the seat, and only
the front to back function is inoperable, all other works fine.

The rear door does not open, the exterior handle is jammed in
the engaged position and will not come loose. The interior latch
does nothing. The locking mechanism still goes up and down,
what is the best way to remedy that?

A rock recently put a quarter sized chip in my windshield. I have
a heated windshield which I just got quoted $1400 to replace
from a Land Rover Dealer referral. Other shops have quoted
$400-$500, will they be able to install the heated screen
correctly, or is the heated screen a good option or should I just
have a not heated unit installed? Any referrals as to who I should
have do it in the Boston area?

The driver's side seat heater does not work, the light on the
button does not illuminate, how much to repair that before the
winter hits?!

I have a few console lights out, the passenger side temperature
controls are not backlight, the clock is not backlit, should i have
someone replace those bulbs (at what cost) or should I do it
myself?

I appologize for all of the questions, but I respect your expertise
and appreciate your time.

Best, Eric

* To fix this you have to remove the seat.  That can be difficult if the seat won't move fore and aft.  I have no specific suggestion for this but we can usually resolve issues like this by looking and puzzling them out.

the engaged position and will not come loose. The interior latch
does nothing. The locking mechanism still goes up and down,

* Pop out the Land Rover oval and spray penetrating oil onto the mechanism.  Work the handle back and forth and it will free up.  Keep it oiled to prevent a recurrance.

* We do Land Rover glass out here.  If you have comprehensve insurance they pay 100%.  We're an hour and fifteen minutes from Boston so you might think of having that done here.

* You may need a fuse or relay (cheap) or you may need a new heater pad in the seat ($4-500)

*It would take a skilled tech an hour to an hour and a half.  Many of the bulbs are special, available from LR only.  How confident are you?  That's the tradeoff.
