Land Rover Repair: Clicking / vibration in brake pedal, obd ii, scan tools

Question
Hello, I have a 98 Disco that has just developed a new problem.  Every once in a while when gentle pressure is applied to the brake pedal, a clicking noise is audible and the brake pedal feels a bit spongy.  When more force is applied it goes away.  During the clicking, the brakes seem unaffected but the slightly spongy feel in the brake pedal is a bit unnerrving. Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance, James Burris

Answer
Given your description it sounds like the ABS is actuating.  You're going to need a shop with the specialized Land Rover test system to talk to the ABS and see what's wrong.

If you have a good local dealer, go there.  If not, look on www.rangerovers.net for shops.  You need a shop with LR-specific equipment.  The generic OBD II scan tools in most general repair shops won't talk to your ABS.
