Lexus Repair: 1990 LS 400, override switch, spilled drinks

The selector will not shift, not even with the override switch. thanks

Is the brake saftey switch working? Does it override switch work? (Much thanks for doing that on your own!!!)
Is the shifter lubricated?

I normally find the electronics have been destroyed by drink spills. It doesn't take much by the way of sugar content in spilled drinks to kill off the saftey switches present in a center console.
