I have a 91 Mercury Cougar LS that the odometer stopped working. The speedometer works fine. What might be the problem and where should I look? Is it something I could do myself?

Hi Phil,

In your case, the odometer runs off the speedometer. You have a bad speedo head. Most people go to the junkyard for this one, just get a speedo that has lower miles! :) Availible from your local Ford garage (new) and you must report the current milage, part number FOSZ17255A for $231 with 85 MPH or part number FOSZ17255C for the 120 MPH one. Book time is 1.7 hours, so that's about a 12 pack? I do have a number of crappy diagrams if you want them on removal and installation. I will need your email resubmitted here if you like.
