Question
I have Mazda Protege, 1996 y., 1.5 l.engine. For about 3 months I've got problem with my car.I can't start engine every morning. I need to turn on key in the ignition switch for longer time to star engine finally. Sometimes it takes me up to 30 seconds. Afterwards car works good, and I don't have this problem no more during daytime. It occurs only in the morning. Is it possible that I may damage something by starting engine like that, and can you help me to figured out what's wrong and how it can be repaired. Thanks V.much.

Answer
Hi and thanks for asking.
I cant be 100 percent sure but this is what it sounds like, There is an obviose problem with the fuel system not being able to maintain pressure in the fuel system, there are cheap ways to repair this and then there are the expensive but right way to fix this, on the fuel pump or sending unit there is a one way check valve that aloows fuel to stay in the lines going to the engine for the next time you start the vehicle, that check valve may be faulty. you can problabe get an after market valve and put it inline somewhere on the system but this may not work,If this vehicle does not have an accesible fuel filter then the only filter is actualy on the fuel pump inside the gas tank, so it would probalby be best the replace the sending unit with a new fuel filter.
good luck
