Mercedes Benz repair: 1973 mercedes 450SE gas, literature type, mbusa

Question
I just got this car from an auction and i dont know much. i have changed the wires, Ignition core, and plugs. since i did this it isnt running right it seems not to be getting fuel or something but it does run right sometimes. right before it cuts out it starts to sputter and i thought maybe trash in fuel. my friend told me that it "jumped timing". when i got the car they said it may need a new Alt. i checked that it is over charging the Batt. would it have any effect on it not having any power or do you have any idea what it might be?

Answer
How many miles on the car?
Ignition core?
Did you mean ignition coil, and did you replace it with the exact same BOSCH coil?
The wrong ignition coil can damage the ECU.
Did you replace the points, cap and rotor?
Where the old spark plugs wet?
Are the NEW spark plugs wet?
Have you checked to see if the Cold Start Valve is leaking = flooding with gas?
Did you check base mechanical timing.
You really need the factory service manual...
