MG Car Repair: steering lock on a 1774 mg midget, grub screw, starter switch

Question
Do you have to pull the steering wheel to replace starter switch or the steering lock assembly?
thanks Dom.

Answer
Hi Dom.  No, you do not need to remove the steering wheel to remove the steering lock assembly.  However, the lock is held by two headless bolts - when they were tightened the heads sheared off.  To remove them, you must drill the heads out. so you will have to rotate the outer column in order to gain access to these bolts with your drill.  The starter switch is held on the back of the lock by a small grub screw.  All you need to change the switch is a tiny screwdriver.
