MG Car Repair: 68 mg midget, fuse holders, fuse panel

Question
My stop lights will not work when I push on brake pedal. I checked the 2 fuses in fuse panel, they are ok. I removed them and checked holders, they looked ok, no corrosion. Tired to find stop light switch but couldn't. Now wiper, head lights, fan will not work. Help! Also a picture showing the stop light switch would be helpful. Thanks

Answer
Hi Roger,
When you say "and checked the holders, they look ok, no corrosion" is not sufficient for a test of the fuse holders. You need to clean the contact area that contacts the fuses. Then you need to use a test light to confirm that each end of each fuse is making good electrical contact to it's fuse holder. This is probably where the other lost items went.
As for the stop lights (the original problem) I believe your stop light switch is under the hood at the end of the brake pedal. Test with a test light for power (key on) then if you have power on one of the two wires just jump across the two and check to see that the brake lights are on. If so, check the switch itself.
