MG Car Repair: MG Midget 1500 engine serial numbers, spitfire 1500, mg midgets

 I have a 77 Spitfire 1500 and I am getting ready to rebuild the engine.  When I checked the engine numbers I found it to be an MG engine.  Can you shed some light on the engine for me and if it is the same as the Spitfire 1500.  The block number is FP9312UE.  Can you give me the specifics of this number.

According to my info it is a US (not Calif.specs) MG midget 75 to 79 1500. Which is a Spitfire 1500. All MG Midgets from 75 on, were Spitfire 1500 engines. Most any parts supplier will be able to use your engine number but most all of the 1500s were the same.
