Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 eclipse, compression check, timing belt

Question
I have a 2001 eclipse 2.4 16v.I recently took it to a shop to have timeing belt water pump etc replaced as preventative maintance. The car ran fine no miss no smoke. The mechanic called the next day and said it was missing bad.He did a compression check and said compression was fine but #4 cylinder had oil in it,he replaced plug and I went and picked up the car ran fine no problem. The car sat for 2 days I cranked it up and now it is missing bad.Still no smoke and is not using oil.Any ideas?

Answer
Johnny: My guess would be that the mechanic did not get the timing belt on right. Therefore the timing is off on the engine, I know he will say he did. But if the car run fine when you took it in and now it is missing bad. Then the timing belt is not on its marks. Sometimes those marks are hard to read, see or find. But don't drive the car to much, as you do not want to mess up the valves, but either take the car back to whoever changed that timing belt or take it to someone new. But get that checked out. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
