Mitsubishi Repair: 1997 Montero Sport LS, negative battery cable, montero sport

Question
I found that the gas cap hadn't be tightened till it clicked and my Check Engine Light is on, how do I get it to go off without effecting anything else or taking it to a shop?

Answer
Natica,
There are a couple easy options you can do to get your check engine light to go off.  First, if you have an AutoZone in your area, you can go there and ask if they can scan your car's computer and reset the check engine light.  Or, you can simply try to disconnect your negative battery cable for a few minutes and then reconnect it.  Many times, that will reset your light.  But keep in mind that can also reset you car's clock and radio settings.  Some radios require a security code to be entered to make it functional again.
Good luck!
