Mitsubishi Repair: idle issues, camshaft lobes, vacuum leak

Question
I have an 02 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. Recently we have had issues with it dying at a low idle. We have checked several things, cleaned out hoses, made sure there is no vacuum leak and checked the plugs and wires. We are perplexed! Could you please help?

Answer
Terah: I would have the car coded to rule out any problems with the computer and any sensors. Have you had the fuel pump checked? It could be bad, some people not saying you but some let their cars run down to empty before filling it up. With the high cost of fuel, I can understand this but the fuel is what keeps the pump cool so if you do this enough with time you will cook the fuel pump. My manual says this about things to check... leaking EGP valve, air filter clogged, the fuel pump, leaking head gasket, timing belt/or pulleys worn and camshaft lobes worn but I don't think that would happen on a 02 but those are things from my repair manual. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
