Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Mirage question, mitsubishi mirage, 2001 mitsubishi mirage

Question
Our daughter's 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage is running fine and she took a trip a couple of hours away and the air was running good however when they shut it off and came back out to the car there is a puddle in the floor board of the passengers side and there is water dripping from under the dash from a white box? Please advise as to what this could be and what to do...

Answer
Susan,
The evaporator for the A/C is located behind the glove box and as refrigerant passes through it, it causes condensation to form and drip into a pan.  That pan has a little drain hose that goes outside the car and normally you would see drips or a small puddle of water under your car on the passenger side.

When you start to see water accumulating inside the car, that typically means your drain hose is clogged and the water cannot drain properly.  You probably just need to have that clogged cleared.  Most any mechanic can do this simply by blowing some compressed air up the drain hose.  Else, they might have to get to the drain pan to remove the clog manually.
Good luck!
